Basic Tips On Securing Your Online Shopping and Transactions !

Hello everyone ! I am Pranay Patel, new contributor of thecopypasteblog.com as i have been assigned by the editor-in-chief Mr. Rahul Banker. Well, I am a total newbie in this blogging world and honestly i had a very small idea about writing my first post on securing our online transaction which came to my mind as the first idea itself. Well, You all must have done atleast a single online transaction and must have worried about the security of your transaction.

How secure is your transaction ?

There are several points to be mentioned on this topic.
The first one is as below,
1] Secured internet connection
*How to know if your internet connection is secured ?

• Many web sites use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt the credit card information that you send over the Internet. These sites usually inform you they are using this technology. Or, check if the web address on the page that asks for your credit card information begins with “https:” instead of “http:”; if so, this technology is in place.
• A different security technology, which works on different principles, is Secure Electronic Transaction, or SET, technology. SET or SSL technology are designed to make your connection secure.

*The other point is of your Browser security :

• Your browser displays the icon of a locked padlock at the bottom of the screen (Netscape Navigator; – versions 4.0 and higher);
• You see the icon of an unbroken key at the bottom of the screen (earlier versions of Netscape Navigator;
• You see the icon of a lock on the status bar.

These were the basic steps to follow in your online transactions but there are many others which you must follow.

Update: I have an AdSense account, and I have been hearing reports of people getting their account suspended without being given the reasons for the suspension. So, being careful, I contacted AdSense Help about using a traffic exchange like BlogExplosion. Their reply was not specific, just that we have to be careful and that the responsibility lies with us. I have since stopped using BlogExplosion for sites which have AdSense ads. There are others who are of opinion that it is OK to use BlogExplosion. You decide for yourself or you may want to seek clarification from AdSense Help Center yourself or from other AdSense users at the Google AdSense Help group.

Attract non-English traffic to English language sites

I have previously published adding site translator to blogs (and normal websites as well) at Add translator to your blog (or website) (click BACK button to get back to this page). One reader also wants to know if she publish a blog in English, how can she attract non-English visitors. The only thing I can think of is to ping non-English as well as English servers each time the blogger creates a new post or updates an old one.

My favorite is Pingoat which includes non-English services. See screenshot below:

Unfortunately, for the past few weeks, I have got the error message "Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in /var/www/pingoat.com/web/db_mysql.php on line 34. Too many connections." I have contacted Pingoat about the problem and now waiting for a response from them. When I get that problem I have to resort to Ping-O-Matic. However, as you can see from the screenshot below:

they do not include as many services as Pingoat and they don't ping non-English servers. That is unfortunate as they were the first to start this pinging service. I think I will contact them and suggest they add that to their list

There is one more pinging service and that is Blogflux Pinger. This one include non-English blog pinging services as you can see below:

Unfortunately, my screen is not big enough to display the other non-English services. You can just see "Japanese" at the bottom of the screenshot. The other non-English service that is not shown is Spanish. It seem to be faster than Pingoat and Ping-O-Matic, but there is no provision to include the feed URL for your blog. I will have to think about which one may be better, Ping-O-Matic or Blogflux Pinger.

There are many other pinging services I have yet to check. When I find the time, I will either update this post or more likely post about a different aspect of pinging to include those pinging services.
